His work is held by the National Museum of Art, Osaka, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Bakuzan was one of Japan's most popular calligraphers, famous for radically expressive single characters. A piece uniting the painter's colour and the calligrapher's brush is an unusual meeting of two worlds.

Sold — no longer available.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0821/4757/3995/files/01_jpg_e83f78cb-065e-4ada-bcc0-4502b9a36f30.jpg?v=1783696105
https://sumo-fujiyama.com/products/motonaga-sadamasa-sakaki-bakuzan-cylindrical-vase-rare-collaboration-sold
