This is an exquisite Wajima-nuri (Wajima lacquerware) writing box (Fumibako) crafted by the esteemed lacquer artist Yasushi Demura, produced by the long-established workshop Gotoya in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The box features a delicate floral motif executed with Chinkin (gold-inlay engraving), a traditional decorative technique characteristic of Wajima lacquerware, renowned for its refined elegance and meticulous craftsmanship. The deep black lacquer surface is complemented by vibrant blue flowers and gold-lined leaves, reflecting a harmonious balance of color and texture. This piece has been preserved unused for a long period and includes its original tomobako (wooden storage box), adding to its value as a collector’s item.
